for Watauga School Board
Teach students how to think, not what to think.
Teach students how to think, not what to think.
Issues
- Students should be given instruction and education, not indoctrination.
- Excellent, effective teachers should be recognized, rewarded and encouraged.
- Teachers should be free from unnecessary regulations and restrictions and allowed to apply common sense.
- There should be less "political correctness" and an impartial, balanced presentation of our nation's history and social issues.
- Waste and inefficiency should be sought out and eliminated, while optimizing resources from the classroom and teachers.
- Find cost-effective methods of addressing the drop-out rate without diverting resources from students who can succeed.

“Education of our children is a significant obligation of society, and we owe them the opportunity to receive a quality education that prepares them for a productive life. Education also consumes a large percentage of our tax dollars, and the taxpayers are owed accountability that money is spent efficiently.”
Dr. Oliver established and operated a successful medical practice in Wake County for more than two decades before retiring and moving full time to Watauga County. He knows how to operate within a budget and will promote fiscal accountability by the Watauga Board of Education. He believes government (and the taxpayers) would benefit from more participation by individuals who have a conservative viewpoint and greater involvement by those who have been successful in the private sector.
